: Cranes & Material Handling

Before you compare rates on cranes & material handling, settle the specification. Two machines in the same class can differ enough in reach, weight or power that only one of them can do your job.

The main classes here are gantries & jacks, hoists & winches, mini cranes & pick and carry, mobile cranes, rigging gear. Work out which class you are in first, then compare suppliers inside it - comparing across classes on price alone is how the wrong machine ends up on site.

Ask for the day, week and four-week price together - the longer rate is usually where the saving is. Anything over four or five days is usually cheaper on the weekly rate, and our quotes work that out for you rather than multiplying days.

This class normally needs a ticketed operator. If nobody on your crew holds one, post the work as a task and hire an operator alongside the machine.

How much does it cost to hire cranes & material handling?
It depends on the size of the machine and how long you need it. Pick your dates on this page and each supplier shows the all-in price for exactly those days, including delivery and any fees, before you commit to anything.
How far ahead do I need to book?
We need 24 hours notice, and popular sizes go early in busy weeks. Booking two or three days out gives you the most choice of supplier.
Is delivery included?
Delivery and collection are priced separately by each supplier and shown in your quote before you pay. Where a machine can be collected from the yard, pickup is free.
Do I need a licence to operate cranes & material handling?
Usually yes, and site rules can be stricter than the law. If nobody on your crew is ticketed, post the job on Hire Pross and hire an operator with the machine.
What happens if I need it for longer?
Tell the supplier before your off-hire date and they extend the booking at the same rate. If the extension crosses into a weekly or four-week band, the cheaper band applies.
What if the machine breaks down?
Call the supplier through your booking. Breakdowns that are not caused by misuse are their responsibility, and the hire clock stops while the machine is down.
