Cover reduces the cost of things going wrong. It does not replace choosing carefully.
Provider insurance
Many providers carry their own public liability cover. Where they have given us a policy, their profile shows an insurance badge. You can ask to see the certificate before you hire — a professional will not mind.
What is typically covered
Accidental damage to property and injury to third parties caused while performing the task, subject to the policy terms, limits and excess.
What is typically not covered
- The cost of redoing poor workmanship.
- Damage to the item being worked on.
- Loss caused by theft.
- Work requiring a licence that the provider does not hold.
- Vehicles, which need motor cover instead.
If something goes wrong
- Photograph the damage immediately.
- Raise it in the task thread the same day.
- Do not release payment while the issue is open.
- Contact support with the task reference.
Insurance terms vary by country and by policy. Always read the policy that applies to your task.
