The rule
You may not refuse to post for, offer to, hire, work for, or otherwise treat a person differently because of race, colour, ethnicity, national origin, caste, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital or family status, pregnancy, disability, age, or any other characteristic protected by local law.
What this means in practice
- Task descriptions may not state a preference for a protected characteristic.
- Offers may not be declined on that basis.
- Reviews may not reference it.
- Messages may not include slurs or stereotypes.
Narrow exceptions
Some requests are lawful and legitimate — for example, requesting a provider of a particular gender for personal care or in-home services where privacy is involved, or requiring a specific language for the work to be done. These must be genuine requirements of the task.
Reporting
Report it and we will investigate. Confirmed breaches lead to removal of content and, for serious or repeat cases, permanent removal from the platform.
